Lao Gan Ma isthe most famous brand of chilli oil used throughout China. Lao Gan Ma or 'old godmother' was founded in 1997 by Tao Huabi, the woman whose picture is on each jar! After being widowed, Huabi opened a noodle shop as a means for supporting her family, and quickly became renowned for her spicy sauces.
