Dim Sum Recipes
Dim Sum (Wonton & Dumplings)
Wonton is a type of dumpling. In northern China it’s written as 馄饨 (huntun in Mandarin) and 云吞 (yuntun in Mandarin) in southern China. It’s different from 水饺 (shuijao or jiaozi in Mandarin but also called dumpling in English) that has an elongated shape. Wonton is normally in a more rounded shape, cooked in boiling water, and served in soup. In Sichuan, there’s a dish called 抄手 (chaoshou in Mandarin) where boiled wonton is mixed with chili oil and served without soup.
